How did you
become a Messmer Bishop? The Admissions Office is
the way in. Mrs. Joanna Mistrioty is the
Admissions Director. Mrs. Mistrioty has been working at Messmer High School for
14 years, and before working in admissions she taught English here. Mrs. Mistrioty said, "The challenge for me is that I’m not able to
accept every student that applies and wants to be a part of the Messmer family."
This shows that Mrs. Mistrioty is a very caring and thoughtful person. She has three daughters, ages 3, 7, and 9. They keep her busy when she is not at Messmer.
Mrs. Mistrioty speaks fluent Greek and she is the first generation
American born in her family; both of her parents are from Greece.
Ms. Jennifer
Jackson is the Admissions Counselor. Ms. Jackson has been working at Messmer High School for almost 8 years. Ms. Jackson is passionate about education and said, “Messmer High School had both spiritual and educational beliefs
that I loved, so I picked Messmer High School.” Ms. Jackson’s favorite things
about working in admissions are meeting new people everyday, and the positive work
environment in the office. Ms. Jackson loves to do home improvements like
tiling, painting, and restoring items in her free time. Ms. Jackson loves to
ride motorcycles--especially Harleys. Ms. Jackson has a favorite quote by Iyanla Vanzant: “Stay
in peace, not in pieces." This quote
stands out to her because it is saying that you should always stay strong.
Ms. Jackson
is in charge of the Shadow Program. The Shadow Program invites interested students and families to share the Messmer experience for a
day. 7th and 8th grade students follow a Messmer student
through their classes to see what a typical day at Messmer is like. Messmer students are also selected to go to various middle schools to
encourage students to join the Messmer family. They tell about their
experiences at Messmer High School and why the middle school students should pick our school.
The women
both love working at Messmer! The feeling in the admissions office is inviting and
welcoming. Stop in and thank them for making Messmer possible for you!
