Messmer’s 5th annual "Show of Shows" took place on May 2nd. "Show of Shows" is a student run show, to display artistic talents of Messmer students. Mr. Greg Flattery, music teacher and the show's director said, "This is not my talent, this is Messmer students' talents."
The show consists of music, poetry, rap, and dance. "Being on stage, was a huge fear for some of the students," said Mr. Flattery. For some, this was their first time on a stage with an audience. There were 23 performers, and more than 20 crew members. Each person had an individual task to make the show ran efficiently and smoothly.
The show was action-packed from beginning to end. Sophomore Charda Ward, who sang Eric Benet's "Real Love" said, "I enjoy doing the show every year, because I like displaying my talent, and being a part of the show." The production was filled with standing ovations, and exciting applause.
Parents and friends came out to support the students' hard work. Mr. Flattery said, “Each year I am impressed with the amount of talent students have here, and encourage everyone to do the show next year." This show is a great way to show your artistic talents, and explore the talents of others.
Junior Edreena Tuggles said, "I liked the show a lot, and I’m always excited to see the show each year." Everyone enjoys the show, parents and students alike. It shows parents what their child is capable of outside of academics and sports, and classmates are able to relate to and look at each other in a different way.
Each year the "Show of Shows" positively grows, and is a great experience.
